Favorite mountain bike product from the early ninties or 80's? Banana seat bikes, with the laid back handle bars.
Favorite Current Trend in Mountain biking Full Carbon, all mountain, mountain bikes. With three adjustments on the rear suspension. Thank you Scott Bikes! AND Mass start, long distance downhills. Hopefully, North America can find an insurance company who will allow this over here. AND Growing interest, recognition and participation of women in gravity fed mountain biking. Come see some of them in action at the first women's only freeride comp, The Gala, at Crank Worx fest 2007.
Least favorite Trend in mountain biking ever. I honestly sat here and tried to think of one, but I think that this sport is constantly evolving, especially freeride mountain biking, and with evolution you will always see success stories and failures and I do not think that one can come without the other.
You're flying down a trail when you come to section with three options to clear a stream that is about fifteen feet wide. You can either:
1) Go straight at it, launch off a root at the edge of the stream which will get you to a small island in the middle of the stream where you could hit a small lip and clear the second half of the stream 2) Carve left and hit a hip to the tranny on the far side 3) Go right and ride a 12" wide ladder bridge that has a lip half way that sends you over a 3 foot gap to downhill ladder bridge tranny. (bridge 4ft above water)
All fast and flowy…but what do you choose and why? I really liked buffed trails, with a lot of steep, long technical sections. I like dropping into something and realizing that now that I have committed, I have committed until the end of the obstacle. I guess I prefer the old school trails, to the constant "air" trails.
How long have you been riding? I have been riding for 7 years.
Favorite Nick Name you've been given? Lovely Lisa Leboy Lefroy (but you have to say it in a weird voice) Lefrizzle Le-freak
Dream Car? Easy…hands down a Ferrari! Probably not in red though.
Favorite Trail in Lower Whistler Bike Park? Upper Shleyer…..to upper Clown Shoes……to lower Joyride……to Hornet!
Ideal place for a dream vacation with your significant other given unlimited budget? Unlimited budget? I would probably start off in the alps, doing a long ride from one peak to the other. Stopping along the way to eat and drink wine in the little restaurants. Then hit up a long Downhill into one of the many valleys. I would then drive my Ferrari (of course) down to Tuscany, drink amazing wine, eat pizza, and gelato. We would then make our way to the beach, hop on a yacht and sail over to Cannes. France. A bunch of friends would join us on-board, for a catered dinner, and various wines to match the food. We would have a lavish dessert and then fill the ship with friends, to dance and party into the wee hours!! And wake up with no hang over!!
G-Unit or Wu-Tang Clan? Wu-tang Clan. How can you choose between the teacher and the student!
Megadeth or Linkin Park? Iron Maaden…Run to the Hill! Try listening to that before shredding and tell me that you are not stoked!
Modest Mouse or Johnny Cash? Tough one. Depends on the mood.
Favorite off season training activity? Shredding pow! On Whistler…of course.
More traction or less rolling resistance? I don't really know what you are trying to ask me, but I don't like skidding!
Honest opinon of Road Riding? I think road riding is great for fitness, and it really is the roots of biking, in general. That being said, spandex shorts freak me out. So please wear some baggy shorts, or stay on your seat.
Words of advice to the Groms? Do it for the fun, love and passion of the sport. Try everything at least three times! Don't bag on others on all the bike forum web sites out there. All it does is ruin someone's day, makes you look like an ass, and proves that you are sitting at home, on your computer and not on your bike!! |
