Red Bull Exodus and More

Crankworx has now come and gone and the Park weathered the onslaught well. Since the dust settled we have been back on trail and have done major renovations to A-Line, Dirt Merchant, Crank it Up and Freight Train. A-Line's lower section has been retooled and some of the jumps have brand new shapes so take a test lap before you send it on autopilot. September is just around the bend and that means you kids are going to be back in school leaving the midweek riding to the old and unemployed.

The early fall is often the best time of the year to ride, with cooler temperatures and more moisture in the forest meaning tacky trail surfaces and easier trail maintenance. Also on the September dance card is the opening of the new segment of Blue Velvet and Upper Freight Train as well as the commencement of construction of Blue Velvet IV which will ultimately link the existing trail with the top of Crank it Up when it is complete in 2011.

This September also debuts the Red Bull Exodus mass start DH race over the Labour Day weekend. The track is the same as the one featured in NWD 9 "Never Enough" (last year's bike movie), although there won't be a golden skull trophy or giant boulders rolling across the track (as far as I know). I can't wait to watch as 200 riders pin it from the top of the Peak Chair to the Village via Mathew's Traverse - Pika's Traverse - Whiskey Jack - and the entire Garbanzo DH course. 400 riders will battle to qualify for the coveted race spots the day before by racing the Garbanzo DH course for seeding in the pack.

To make all of this even more sweet we have put together a new Bike Park "Fall Access Pass". For $199 you can pick up a fall pass valid from September 7th to October 12th, enough time to get in a season's worth of riding! See you in September.
