It's official, after much speculation and even more snow removal, the 2008 Bike Park season will start as planned. There was some doubt and even some rumors that the opening day would be pushed back another week because of the snow on the trails. That is not the case due in part to the small army of volunteers who came out on a dreary Saturday to join the trail clearing work party. 30 selfless individuals gave four hours of their time to clear the remnants of snow left behind from the excavators on A-Line and Crank it Up, in addition to shoveling off the bridges and single track on Devils Club and Crack Addict, effectively guarantying that we would open on the 17th.
This effort and the weather forecast for the days around opening should result in an epic day for everyone who has been counting down the days to the park riding season. The final tally of which trails will be open is not yet in and the plan is to keep plowing ahead all week and open as much terrain as possible for the long weekend. So get that old bike out and give it a tune or offer your bike mechanic an extra incentive to build up your new rig quickly because there are only a few more sleeps left to go!
For a full value day finish off your ride with an evening of bike visuals at the GLC with the premier of Kranked 7 "Cackle Factor", featuring epic parts from: Jamie Goldman, Nathan Rennie, Steve Romaniuk, Mike Kinrade, Eric Porter, Kyle Ebbett, Timo Pritzel, James Doerfling, René Wildhaber, Mike Hopkins, Ben Boyko, Kirt Voreis, Garett Buehler, Bobby McMullen, Ryan Berrecloth, Josh Bryceland, Dylan Dunkerton and Curtis Robinson. If the teaser is any indication, this will be just the ticket to get you fired up for the season.
If that was not enough Mike and the crew of the GLC will follow it up with some live music so riders can work off the lactic acid and groove to the melodic vibes of Shane Philip.
See you in the line up!
